Untapped Resources?

Through the Roof's vision is to see all disabled people free to realise their full potential. To achieve this they have a variety of projects, both in the UK and overseas, to encourage organisations to be inclusive of disabled people and their families. In the UK they provide information, resources and training for churches on accessibility issues, including compliance with the disability Discrimination Act.
The Disability Discrimination Act has brought to the fore the importance of making public buildings accessible to disabled people. However Through the roof believe that there is still a long way to go in achieving full inclusion, particularly in the workplace and many organisations are unaware that there is a huge potentially untapped resource of workers available to them.
Through the Roof concentrated on how to include disabled people in volunteering. They had speakers from both an organisational and a personal perspective which brought the learning alive.
The main speakers were people from Through the Roof, volunteers and organisations who have been successful in including disabled people.
