Poole CVS aims to encourage more older people (55+) into volunteering – especially those more isolated and ‘hard-to-reach’ – as well as working with local organisations to spread good practice. The project has already been successfully running in Poole for two years and Goldstar’s continuation funding now allows the programme to expand into Bournemouth.
They are holding their Third Annual Conference at Bournemouth University on THURSDAY 6th SEPTEMBER (10am – 4pm). The theme will be around Good Practice and Volunteering, with particular emphasis on including and managing volunteers from the following groups: Equality & Diversity (BME and/or LGBT);
Ex-Offenders; and those volunteers affected by Mental Health issues and therefore with additional support needs.
They would like to take this opportunity to invite expert speakers from other Goldstar projects, with similar aims to ours and experience of working with the above groups, to participate in our conference and share your experience and good practice by presenting one of four one-hour workshops. The workshops will be offered twice throughout the day.
