SMALL GRANTS FOR VOLUNTARY SECTOR TO HOLD GOOD PRACTICE EVENTS.
The grants round has now closed, we are reviewing the applications and will shortly release the events schedule.
GoldStar is calling for applications for small grants to hold good practice events in the community. If you would like to apply for the grant the deadline for the first wave of applications is at 12pm 29th August 2008. The second is 26th September 2008.
GoldStar will welcome applications from organisations (or groups of organisations), that can demonstrate specialist expertise in working with volunteers from one of more of the following target groups, Black Asian Minority Ethnic (BAME), disabled people or people with limiting long term illnesses; and people with no qualifications. The events should be to promote and share good practice amongst other organisations.
Successful organisations can receive a small grant of between £100 and £3000, and there is a “good practice events management toolkit” available for FREE to everyone, which is full of hints and tips and templates to help organisations to manage events.
The events will be funded and supported by the GoldStar Exemplar programme. GoldStar is a national initiative designed to promote and share good practice in working with volunteers, mentors and befrienders from socially excluded or disadvantaged groups. Barry Coleman, Project Director for GoldStar explained that "This is a fantastic opportunity for organisations to get involved in promoting good practice to organisations about working with volunteers at risk of social exclusion.
"GoldStar has previously held successful regional and national road shows and our 46 exemplar organisations are doing innovative work in their specialist areas.
" We are now looking to extend the work and enable organisations to share good practice with many more organisations."
The closing date for the first wave of applications will be 29th August 2008 and the second on 26th September 2008 with successful organisations informed two weeks later.
