Lost in Translation: MisUnderstanding Youth Empowerment

IARS empower and give voice to young people so that they can influence policy and dramatically engage in society as equal citizens.’ The event was a debate/discussion addressing key questions based on research that IARS had compiled.

 

The Activities included: Theatre, Knowledge cafes, Debate, networking

Questions raised on youth empowerment including ideas on:

Incentives and rewards, Training, accreditation and internships

View points were given from youths and adults and the audience.

 

There was also a Town hall style debate between youth and adult panel. Chaired by Carlene Firmin of Race on the Agenda (ROTA) (main speaker). It included a Youth panel and adult panel. The young panel included representatives of Lifeline Consultancy, LB Merton, Independent Academic Research Studies and Dare London. The adult panel was included representatives from the Princes Trust, Government Office for London, Greater London Assembly and London Youth.
